On this page you can find all the information you will need to see if enrolling at OCSI is right for your child and your family. Please remember that the decision to apply and enroll your child(ren) at OCSI must be an informed one- OCSI is an international school, which means the curriculum is taught entirely in English. OCSI's curriculum is based on the American educational system (for more information, see "About OCSI- OCSI's Curriculum"), and the school calendar also follows the traditional American educational calendar (eg. the school year begins in August and ends in June). OCSI is not an English-language school and therefore maintains high English literacy standards.

When can a student begin at OCSI? Is there a High School?

OCSI accepts students beginning at the age of three (3) into the K3 Program (Kindergarten for 3 year-olds), continuing on through the 12th year of high school. OCSI admits all students regardless of race, sex, religion, or nationality, who demonstrate the need for an English-language education. Students must also demonstrate English literacy as determined by OCSI's policy regarding Admissions, Retention, and Promotion. In regards to Japanese citizen students, OCSI admits only those who are sufficiently fluent to study in English (as determined by OCSI) and also meet at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Have future plans for study and/or work in an English-language environment.
  2. Desire a Christian education.
  3. Have lived overseas for two years or more and is a "returnee."
  4. Otherwise demonstrates a compelling and authentic need to attend an international school.

What happens in the application and enrollment process?

The OCSI Admissions Pack contains all the details regarding the admissions and enrollment process. Here is an abbreviated outline of the necessary steps:

  1. The prospective family submits the OCSI Student Application and other required admissions materials (eg. past school records, vaccination records, etc.)
  2. An interview is scheduled with the OCSI principal. During the interview a short tour of the school facilities is given.
  3. Upon approval by the OCSI principal, the prospective family is invited to enroll their child(ren).

What about tuition and fees?

The OCSI Admissions Pack contains the complete schedule of tuition and fees. Tuition for SY2010-11 is set at ¥545,00 for Elementary (K4-5th Grade) students, and ¥610,000 for Secondary (6-12th Grade) students for the full year. OCSI's tuition is very competitive with other accredited, international schools, and is below the per-student cost of education in public U.S. schools (US$7552, as determined by the U.S. National Education Association in 2007). OCSI offers a monthly payment plan and financial aid is also available. For details, please call, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
